As the recent wave of blog-specific reviews has made clear, I've been busy these past few weeks catching up on notable 2007 releases. And while more of those are on their way - including for King of Kong, Atonement, Margot at the Wedding, and La Vie En Rose - I've also been extremely busy churning out criticism for Slant magazine. Consequently, here's a giant batch of links, with a few more big Slant reviews (including one for my film of the year) coming soon...
Now:
The Golden Compass (Slant magazine)
Grace is Gone (Slant magazine)
The Walker (Slant magazine)
Revolver (Slant magazine)
'Tis Autumn: The Search for Jackie Paris (Slant magazine)
The Sasquatch Gang (Slant magazine)
Be My Oswald (Slant magazine)
The Near Future:
Youth Without Youth (Slant magazine)
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (Slant magazine)
The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (Slant magazine)
Steep (Slant magazine)
Look (Slant magazine)
To me, it is fairly obvious what your alluded film of the year is (and let me say that I think we're in the same boat on that one), so I won't dare mention it here. The only question that remains, then, isn't whether or not your top ten will feature a movie whose title bears nine or more words, but *how many*.

Guess all you like, but I'm not spilling any secrets. Especially given that my lists will be public knowledge by the end of the week...

Fair enough, but I'd be lying if I attempted to hide my anticipation. Meanwhile, I'm plowing through screeners like insanity. This just in: "The Kite Runner" is one of the most unintentionally funny things I've seen all year.

I'll second that, Rob. The Kite Runner's climactic showdown, in particular, is one of the most unintentionally funny moments of this or any other year.
