Remember when this year's summer movie season suddenly, surprisingly featured a raft of intelligent, exciting films? Well, that time has now past, as this week's main release - The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - is typical summer crapola.
I'm off to the beach next week, so updates around here will be sparse. But upon my return, keep an eye out for reviews of Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, Hamlet 2 and - surely most anticipated of all by serious film connoisseurs - The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.
Now:
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (Slant magazine)
In Search of a Midnight Kiss (Slant magazine)
America the Beautiful (Cinematical)
Later:
Hell Ride (Slant magazine)
What We Do Is Secret (Slant magazine)
Good God, The Mummy looks terrible. Brendan Fraser always sounds like he's about to vomit when he talks; why?
